Zollnerstrabe: truck crashes into underpass

Once again, a truck driver underestimated the clearance height of a bamberg railroad underpass: on tuesday at around 14.30 o’clock the driver of a transporter got stuck in the zollner underpass. He had wanted to pass them coming from ludwigstrabe in the direction of bamberg-east.

As the police further informed on request, the vehicle jammed so much that it had to be cut out by the volunteer fire department. While the truck body was destroyed in the accident – the damage is estimated at 25,000 euros – the tractor unit was still roadworthy and was later able to continue on its way under its own power.

According to the police, both lanes of the underpass were closed to traffic for about an hour and a half – with the result that there were traffic jams and detours for the flowing traffic. Only around 16.50 o’clock the zollnerstrabe was there again unhindered passable. The driver, who according to the police was uninjured, and deutsche bahn AG, the owner of the bridge, were lucky. The structure is said to have suffered only minor damage, probably because it was a light truck body. This is what the federal police found on the scene.
